How bad did you get screwed on your taxes?
I'm doing my taxes right now and getting pissed off. I'll have paid a hundred grand in Federal and California taxes and thanks to the Republicans... I still may owe another $8,000 due to the so called "tax cuts". What a joke.

You do know you are still paying taxes based on the rules prior to the Tax Cuts and Jobs act right. Go to H&R block or any other free online calculator that will tell you how the new rules will affect you when you file in 2019.
Follow up question. How can a state like Washington seem to operate fine, decent infra, okay schools with the same sales tax and lower real estate taxes than California whereas California is collected over $65 billion in state income taxes and still can't manage to get anything right with shitty roads and schools. What am I missing?
That's a complicated question. Google it ;). Simple answer is Schools, Medi-Cal and pensions. Most of the burden is because of sheer numbers of people living here, legally or not.
Need voucher system for schools. Allow parents to take their voucher and choose to use it on public or private schools. This will force schools to compete and improve quality.

Nope, they will be higher next year if I file for the same income. If you make over a certain amount the bracket drop will not compensate for the state tax deduction cap.
