I've been thinking about learning Perl for some personal projects but might start on it sooner if it has utility for interviews. Thoughts?
Perl ??? I used to code in it 15 years ago . If you are gonna learn something , go for Python .
I know python, I just want to flex on the interviewers with fancy regex
If your goal is flexing, might as well use lisp, or brainfuck for that matter
Python, JS (though if interviewer asks a priority queue question and wants to runs your code, you might be screwed), GoLang, or Java. C++ if you wanna go next level. This is the standard. Everything else is useless.
Golang more like lol no generics
Do you mean people that use C++ (and use it well) in the interview get bonus points?
You will impress literally no one with Perl. In fact, they may blacklist you!
Out of feelings of being threatened I assume
Some languages have a stigma. E.g. don't put that you are an expert in Visual Basic. Perl is going down that route. Also you want your code to be readable. Perl is everything but. Python is very readable.
