How did radiation therapy affect your work?

I start radiation next week. I am told the fatigue sets in a few weeks after the radiation. But that is also the time I am going in for egg freezing treatment - we have time for two cycles. I need to get on medication soon after for the next 5 years. I am somewhat anxious as can be expected. My Doctors say it is not easy to predict reaction to the treatment. Be that as it may, I would like to know how the treatment has impacted others. The timing - as if there could be better timing for cancer - is quite bad. Visa related stress and new role to boot. Thank you.

My mom just went through radiation. It took a few weeks like you said, but she gets exhausted really easy. She just about cuts her day in half and naps the rest because she’s so tired. Sorry to hear what you’re going through, wishing all the best.

If it helps, see from the perspective that you are at a newly accepted position and are kicking @ss in there so you're already winning in life! 😊 Take your time and do not let this phase define your life. When it gets tough, rely on your family and friends and keep your chin up! 💐

Effects vary depending on where they are targeting, but many people don't experience any immediate effects. Many side effects are superficial at first like "sunburned" skin or appetite changes.

I did radiation years ago- every day before work, for about 2 months (I was 28 at the time, and had just completed 18 weeks of chemo that gave me crazy insomnia). I fell asleep at a stop sign once- while I was driving. Please make sure that you take care of yourself- it’s no joke when you hear having cancer is like have a second full-time job.

Wow..thanks. The exhaustion is overwhelming and I’m not undergoing chemotherapy. Thank you for sharing..
