How did your companies scale?

Facebook is hiring a lot of people and running into new challenges on campus. What challenges did your companies have and how did they solve it? E.g office space, rest rooms, dining, gym, etc

You don’t want to learn from msft. Benefits going downhill over time. e.g. private office => open offices.

We have an open office so this doesn’t matter for us

I'm glad I work with prototype hardware. We aren't allowed to work in an open office.

Re: office space Some team here at Google wrote a script that helps optimize meeting rooms and times. If you schedule a meeting and there is a more optimal room for you and the recipients, it auto reschedule it for you and the whole group. The script looks over everyone's calendar and updates based on location and distance to conference rooms, number of attendees, video conference needs, etc. I think it's cool and it has helped to optimize the usage of conference rooms in our offices (especially the NYC location).

We changed to open office footprints to increase person/sq ft ratio, so everyone put on headphones and started to work from home. Then we threatened people to not work from home. Insurance got worse and more expensive. But we are making better movies now, so, that.
