How do Cruise levels compare to google/facebook?
At Cruise... IC1 and IC2 are SE IC3 and IC4 are Sr SE IC5 and IC6 are Staff SE How does IC4 compare to leveling at Google and Facebook? note: IC4 is a higher sr level than IC3
Basically everyone in the company is senior, from 0 yr to 10+ yr experience, hard to get promotion to staff, mostly reserved for people who have been in the company since before acquisition. Make sure to negotiate hard for staff title, else forget about getting it in the company.
Sounds like you have an axe to grind. Staff is hard to get for a good reason, you're not going to "negotiate" it during offer because it requires VP approval. Most people I've seen who have been promoted to staff are having wide impact across the org and well deserve it.
