How do I avoid being the ‘driver’ in the group?

It so happens that among most of the people I hang out with, I am the only person who has a car and ends up doing the pickup/dropoff duty whenever there is any plan. I don’t mind if its on my way but otherwise totally hate it! And if you do that for one person it looks bad saying no to others. How do I avoid being in this kind of a situation without being rude/damaging the relation?

Just suggest picking them up at a convenient place for you, they'll get the idea if they have any consideration for you.

Find new people to hang out with. This time preferably with people who own their own vehicles.

Consider what your life would be like if you didn't pick them up. They would find it a lot harder to hang out with you, physically. You would start to drift from each other. You might even lose touch. If you want to maintain close friendships with them, keep driving. Consider it an expression of friendship. If you don't care if you start to drift, or if you really hate it, cut back, and tell them to grab an Uber. Your friendships might lose some quality time just because it's not as easy for them but might be worth it for your sanity. I guess I am saying, don't be too quick to cut it off, if you think there's anything about it you might miss.

I had the same problem since people always volunteered me to pick them up since I don't drink; initially it was okay but after a point it got annoying. One day I just said - "I don't feel like driving" and that's it.
