How do we make money prior to tax-exempt status?

Started a for-profit org to bid on government contracts for our services last year but since we’re small, things are painfully slow. More importantly, had ideas for more human services projects in local community so created a subsidiary of the company to be nonprofit but haven’t applied for tax-exempt status yet since no board of directors. Everything that we have done has been out of my personal capital. I’m running out of savings and still can’t figure out what we can do to create income. Here’s what we’ve come up with: -Developed classes, groups & workshops to assist the nonprofit’s mission but not sure how to fill the seats up for them. -Was thinking of adding branded shirts, etc. to the website just to create some kind of cash flow but that’s barely pennies. This is my dream career all bundled in one... I just can’t figure out how to monetize it.. any suggestions?

Solve problems that people are willing to pay money for. I don’t know what it is your company does, but from the sounds of it there’s not much demand for it, there is limited visibility of your services and/or other companies are more competitive.
