How do you justify using things like uber/lyft, ubereats/caviar/doordash?

Why not just take the bus or go pick it up yourself/cook your own food?

I'm travelling overseas in Asia and uberfood-esque apps like Grab are amazing. Chill in 5 star hotel & have street foods from all over delivered. So yes, time saving.

I understand what other people are saying but not this guy. ^ dude you’re in amazing parts of the world and just cooped up in a hotel?

Have a small child. Tell me how much you want to cook every single day. Shit gets old real fast especially in dual income homes where everyone's tired after work

There are cases where you need to take taxi instead of public transportation. Uber/lyft is simply cheaper than taxi.

How much do you value your time? If you break down a software engineer’s salary in Silicon Valley, median pay per hour based on 40 hours a week might be around $70-80 an hour.

A $20 meal on DoorDash might save you 30-45 minutes. Do you value those 30-45 minutes at more than $20 or less?

While I agree with time argument in general but it’s not like you’re losing 80$ while scratching your balls and watching shark tank. Not too smart

Well I guess it goes back to valuing your time. Do you wanna be with your friends and family or do you wanna be out driving to go pick up food.

At the end of the day, a $5 delivery fee won’t be too bad when you earn $5 million over your lifetime

I don't. Uber/lyft are almost never necessary unless you live in the sticks, and I'd rather cook than get food delivered

Yeah yeah. Time is money. Hence get food from outside and in the meantime make more money coz you will need it to pay for doctors later on...

I don’t have a car and there are too many hills in Seattle so I would uber there so it costs the same. I don’t live near a grocery store either. If I go to Costco I have to rent a car. It’s a pain in the ass being carless in Seattle.

The time involved in dressing up, pulling car out of parking, going to restaurant/grocery, parking car in parking lot, picking stuff off aisles/ordering, checkout, drive back home, park again, pull into Pjs....is far too much

I cook quite often, but I'm actually increasing take out since it's cheaper than going to the same restaurant usually. Uber is great since you don't even need to own a car.
