For example everything is about microservices and cloud these years, kotlin is a new language I recently heard about from my colleague. How do people find out about the next thing? TC: 140 YOE: 3

Are there specific YouTube channels or search that showcase latest updates in tech?
why is it necessary to stay aware of the new tech? If you have no urgent engineering problems to solve, why not just spend some time with family and friends or even do some LC. You can go and search for the tech you need when you have an urgent engineering problem to solve (like leadership wants to reduce latency by 20% before the next thanksgiving) Stayed aware constantly takes a lot of time but helps nothing except dinner table talk.
I never kept in touch of new tech until I started working on my side project. I had to evaluate different tech/frameworks etc. Know that new fancy things are always popping up but the core fundamentals of tech haven't changed much. So focus on one thing you are passionate about and rest will follow. And ignore the noise about the new fancy 100 bytes of web framework posts on hn
