Sinple question, though trying to not sound like that senator who asked Mark. i dont remember paying for FB/Instagram/Whatsapp and i dont know anybody who does. in contrast, I dont know anyone who doesnt have amazon prime. curious how FB makes money.
you know about the senator but not zuck’s response to his question?
Read my response above. I have myself run ads and I know how terrible they are. Low conversion rates. Nobody buys using those stupid FB ads. At least nobody I know. FB is full of older people and IG users hardly open wallet (younger generation). My experience as a seller made me ask this question. That senator had no clue anyways
Probably more to do with what you’re selling. Student loan refi’s can target young folks, bet they do pretty well on ad ROI
Can you explain your username?
It’s as random as yours. Lets stick to the question. Any data showing FB revenues from ads and how it has progressed in last few years ? Or IG or WhatsApp revenues ?
Mine is not random. Now I understand how you don't realize the way ad business works.
If you don't pay for it, you're the product
FB ads are better than Adwords 9/10 times. They are cheaper and much more precisely targetable. You’re just either selling junk or bad at optimizing/marketing.
Have you sold anything using FB ads ? Nobody trusts brandless websites that sell women’s beauty products from China
Then your problems isn’t the platform but your shitty brandless website.
I've worked for marketing team prior to joining FB. Fb had great ROI compared to most marketing channels. Heard same feedback from many folks during casual conversations. Are you trying to say that everyone is dumb for running ads on fb? We do make 50B+ a year. So there is atleast something that we are doing right. Complaining that the product is poorly built, commenting on how great Amazon prime is, taking examples from a small sample. The post just looks like you are trying to make yourself feel good. There are 2b+ ppl using fb products. So it ain't so bad.
First reasonable answer. I’m not trying to make myself feel good though I’m Amazon Employee so it’s easy to make that conclusion. What will be the best method to check 50B claim. Quarterly reports ? Product is solid built. You can target like anything but I don’t see any one close who opens their wallet on FB.
"what will be the best method to check 50B claim" how you managed to get a job at all is beyond me
Yes, you can see the sources of revenue in each quarterly earnings. Advertising makes up the vast majority of fb revenue
“Senator, we run ads”
Ads are not always for direct immediate conversion. If you see a coke advrt., Fb makes money even without you clicking it.
FB gets paid when you see an ad. You don't even need to buy anything. Companies pay a lot of money to just get their brand out there.
They run ads
You ever bought something using those Shopify ads ? I have used Shopify account to sell latest gizmos and conversion rate is awful.
Ok. Instagram ads are good.
