So you get offered a job at Amazon with the usual 5,15,40,40 distribution and a large sign in bonus to make up for the low vesting % of the first 2 years. That guarantees a beefy TC for the first 4 years. But what happens at year 5? Do you start to get stocks in an annual review like Microsoft? Is the award comparable to when you join the company? I’m trying to understand what TC would look like if you are, say, meeting your goals over the years.
What’s target comp for each level assuming in WA?
Who cares. Fuck stingy companies
I’ve gotten stock as part of my annual review starting in year 2. They vest over the next 2 years. I am in year 4 now and next year will be big for me but I also just got promoted so year 5 and beyond should not be horrible.
Congrats. Year 5 was the big one for me too.
You get free admittance to the mental hospital for enduring Amazon for 5 years.
You get a bathroom break refresher every year. With 10 YoE you could be taking daily dumps no problem.
When I was waiting at the lobby for my amzn interview to start, I asked for restroom, was asked to cross the road and go to another building.. But once I got into the building the restrooms were clean and nice and free.. But FB restrooms were the best..
Op, you will get no refreshers in year 1&2, since you're scheduled to vest 40% in year 3 and 4. You will get first refresher in year 3 to vest in year 5&6. There are no annual bonus or espp. Any Amazon folks can correct me if I'm wrong.
So my understanding is, after 5 years unless you get a promo, you make your base salary plus a few shares like 5 shares?
In year 6, shares from year 4 vest
I’m in year 4 right now. Next year I have shares (more than 5) but just not as much as this year (about half). Though I got a promo this month so I will get shares from that. I’m not certain when they start vesting though since they haven’t been awarded yet.
You lost me at gaurantees tc, rsu comp is super volatile and stock prices go down as well ;)
Ok. Read my question as stock price staying relatively stable.
1) You didn't state anything about price staying stable. 2) priced are unlikley to stay stable. But if you must know amazon sets a target comp, if you fall below you get more stock, if you fall above you get nothing until you fall behind.
