At Intel, it’s not too difficult to change teams within company depending in the interest. I’m just curious how it works among FAANG , if there are any specific rules and would the hire process be same as a new hire?
At Apple it is fairly hard. At google it is very easy.
it depends on your level, location, and performance review scores. can vary from very easy to impossible
Don't you have to reinterview with the new team at google?
Not in the normal interview sense. You just meet with the manager and discuss how you fit on the team and such to decide if it’s a good match. They also can review your performance history. No coding on the whiteboard or anything like that.
What about fb?
Fb is not always that easy, depending on your job type, manager, and the team you are in now
Hi! Can you guide me on what’s the process for onsite interviews at Facebook for Program Manager role? What to expect ? What kind of questions they ask ? I am looking for some guidance on what should I focus on for my onsite next week.
It ain’t that easy at Intel either. First of all, you have to serve at least 12 months in your current team or org before you can transfer. The 12 month clock resets even when you are transferred to a team by force i.e. a re-org. Otherwise people would be transferring in and out of groups every few months. Secondly, even after the 12 month period is satisfied, some chicken $hit manager may be too scared to take you due to politics. Intel is full of politics and some weaker managers may not want to clash with politically powerful orgs. Thirdly, the old manager can ask for a transition period when you work 50% for the old team and 50% for the new team. I think the transition period can be up to 6 months.
It's not that easy compared to Intel.
