How is FB going to be doing in 4 years?

Got an offer substantially more than my current salary. Since I haven't had a FB account in three years, I have no idea whether people are still using it or whether young kids are joining. My friends in their mid 20s say it's dying and that it's only full of politics, but my friends hardly represent the average FB user. Should I be worried about the longevity of FB? I have 2 years experience and I would like to choose a place for my second job where I would be happy to stay at for 4-5 years.

Facebook is one of the only few companies with a futuristic mindset. I'd say it's at least a safer bet compared to Microsoft

I dunno. MSFT has its tendrils in many different areas. Gaming, OS, ads, Office, cloud, hardware. If anything, it's the most diversified and therefore safest big co

Agreed, Microsoft, Amazon, and Google are far more diversified than say Facebook.

As a developer I care more about what I will learn. Microsoft will definitely do well in 4 years, and so is FB. I would jump without hesitation.

We’ll live or die by execution. Come join and help. 2B on FB and still room to grow. One thing to look for is, how chained to shareholders is the company. I’m encouraged to see the feed changes we’re making because it means we’re not afraid to upset Wall Street if we believe it is the right long term bet to make.

Facebook umm yolo? Jan 16, 2018

Facebook is very very future conscious. We may not have the right recipe for the future now, but we are making some good bets. I think that is about as good as you'll get from any tech company.
