How is Snapchat these days?

Does it worth to consider interviewing with Snapchat?

People love to dump on snap and they really are an easy target because their user base is 12-15 year olds and their ceo has made some laughably horrific decisions. But they give out legit top of market comp so their employees are probably laughing all the way to the bank... after their long hard days of perfecting mustache and dog filters for 12 year olds.

Not only that, but the engineering here is top notch, WLB is important to management, and I really enjoy the people I work with.

Who told you about top notch part?

Snapchat snapisgood Aug 4, 2019

Yeah. Snap pays top dollar and with the price going up my TC is over 1M yearly šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Iā€™m treated super well. I love my colleagues. Easily best job Iā€™ve ever had and I plan to stay for a long time.

People love to hate on Snap. But honestly as an employee it comes down to if you enjoy what you do everyday and whom you work with. Given the high volatility of the stock, you learn to not be bothered by it everyday. The company has always paid near or above FAANG. Stock bonuses and offers in H2 2018 were awarded at ~$7-10$. Snap was my first job out of school. I've been here for over 3 years and have enjoyed my time overall at Snap. I love the sense of ownership and responsibility that I have been exposed to in the early days of my career. I am given opportunities to fail and learn from. If a product team is 6 people at Snap, it's probably at least double the size at FAANG. When I talk to my FAANG friends who started working at the same time, I've felt I got more opportunities at Snap. And my TC is generally 20-30% higher. There have been some tough times for sure. (In 2018, the company made sure employees were well compensated via bonuses.) If you're in the phase of your life where you can take some risks, it's worth a shot.
