My friend is interested in moving to Verizon...Saw the company did well in their second quarter. He knows that it's a big corp but what's the culture like? He really values stability. Would you say an engineering job is pretty stable at Verizon Wireless? The more info the better. Thanks guys!
Horrible, full of Desi ( Indian) sweatshop workers (consultants), pay is peanuts as well.
How’s jet? What’s the interview process like?
This was the most accurate review of Verizon I’ve ever read. It really is full of Indians willing to work overtime and weekends and not get compensated for those hours. Pay is indeed peanuts, while the look at you wondering why you refuse to work unpaid overtime. It’s swarming with consultants, which shows how weak the company is. They got rid of 25K employees just to send their work to Verizon’s offshore team. I don’t know what you mean by stability.
Per your question, it's very stable
Their have been lay-offs in almost every org the last 5 years. Sounds super stable.
Verizon is a massive company with 130k employees and many many departments. There is no real catch all for how a position maybe without specifics on area and department your friend is applying to.
Nah it’s all bad. If you like time traveling, though. It would be a decent way to learn how business from 1970 should be run.

Rest and vest. If your young dont even bother.
I can only talk about jobs in IT sector. This is mostly filled with same segment of people so not so diverse. Not so professional.Stable I can say yes,but if you are looking for a professional work environment not so great. Also this is open seating so you won’t have comfort of having your own desk or cubicle which I miss a lot.I would agree with almost all the comments above.
It’s pretty good the NJ and NYC offices are HUGGE bigger than Exxon Mobil’s campus in Spring, TX. Also, there’s a lot of different engineering roles a lot of my friends are in cyber security and others in raw engineering roles
I agree with most of these folks. Some departments can be very political and depending on your manager, the culture could be skewed. For the most part, the company is still a little old fashioned but the company seems to turn its fear into newer generation (VSP)... If your friend can do better I'd advice try harder, but it is still a decent place to develop his/hers career. I have a colleague moved to T-Mobile and he seems to enjoy there more than his 10 years of experience at Verizon.
