Got an email from an Amazon recruiter for a data mining position at their San Diego office? I am wondering how is their work environment there? How’s work/life balance and compensation relative to the other San Diego Tech companies?
How many bathrooms in the SD location? Does this location also supply daily 🍌?
Bananas are only provided when the stock price is increasing and the company has purged all low performers. Fortunately, the latter happens daily. Amazon's leadership principles include perseverance and tolerance of adversity. Hence bathrooms are deliberately in short supply, to ensure that only top performers stay at the company.
Don't forget to bring a water bottle to the on-site.
Comp should be the same as an equivalent position in Seattle, so probably better than most SD companies. WLB is not actually that bad at amazon if you are competent and have enough backbone to set reasonable expectations.
