How long does Google take to respond after on-site?

Had an on-site interview with Google 2 weeks ago (just before memorial weekend) Sent in a courtesy thank you email to the recruiter the next week but haven’t heard back at all from the recruiter. How long do Google recruiters take to respond after on-site (reject/hire decision). Do they ghost candidates they don’t plan to hire? Is 2 weeks wait indicative of the decision going one way or another? TC: $128k

2-3 weeks is common

For both hire/no-hire? All this waiting is making me anxious 😅

Yes. Google is known to be slow to hire. The advice below from namonamo is good and you should email the recruiter to check in and see how things are going on their end.

There needs to be a team match, which can take some time. Ive seen some cases where they heard back after 5~6 weeks, but if you were flat out reject itd actually be quicker before you hear back

It really depends on when the interviewers enter feedback. Most of the people enter within 3 to 4 days. After that, assuming the feedback is clearly positive (i.e mostly Hires or Lean-hires), the recruiter waits to put you into their favorite HC I.e hiring committee (there are multiple hiring committees that meet every day. Many recruiters have their favorite committees). So this can take a week or slightly more in worst case. If feedback is mixed, a good recruiter will try to do something to help the situation; like trying to get any internal endorsements from ex-colleague of candidate now working at Google and/or line up one or two additional Interviews (and somehow trying to make a case to HC that this warrants additional Interviews) or get a manager's statement of support (let's say candidate has extremely relevant experience for a team and strong referrals) etc.. this takes time..maybe a week or two. So in all, it may take 3 days to a month to hear back. Do ping your recruiter regularly (like once it twice a week and ask for status). They typically do not drop the ball..so don't worry that unless you ping multiple times a week, they are going to drop the ball. Also, if you have a question to the recruiter ask it explicitly; And keep your emails succinct (so that your question isn't missed). Recruiters read literally 100s of emails (some juggle as many as 25-30 candidiates). If you send an email like a thank you email without any question or with a vague statement like "let me know if you need anything from my side" etc, it is hard for recruiters to bring back all the context, see your status and then tell you what's going on. Hope this helps (How do I know all this?: I have done about 200 Interviews at Google in the last 5 years. I'm passionate about this ..plus it also helps me keep myself up-to-date. I also used to be a part of one of the HCs but not anymore.)

So if you were flat out rejected you would hear back sooner?

Google namonamo Jun 6, 2019

Yes. You will hear after all the feedback is in or if enough people have said No hire that there is really no hope

Hey! I also had an onsite with Google just before Memorial weekend! They let me know the result in exactly one week.

That was fast. Hope you made it 😉 I’m still stuck waiting after 2 weeks.
