Got Uber offer this year in May, but instead chose G (GCP) and joined July.. I am confident G is not right fit for me. Atleast my current team and manager. Stressed all the time. Had an veteran Googler leave the team too. However I can't change teams within an year. Which sucks because only way then is to get out. Cutting my losses, evaluating considering joining Uber. Any idea how long does an offer remain valid ? Does things get complicated if I ask for location switch (From SF to Sea) ? Current TC - 330k. T5. YOE 11.
Only for the length of the ride
Yeah reach out to the recruiter.
This sort of thing depends mostly on the team/manager, but in my experience it's pretty easy for experienced (especially senior) candidates to get an offer re-extended from any large tech company if they interviewed somewhat recently (i.e. within the past 6 months). Even if the specific team you were originally assigned to no longer has headcount, demand for more senior positions typically far exceeds supply, and SOMEBODY will want to pick you up. At worst you may just have to do one or two more interviews, mostly to assess culture fit and/or motivation.
Longest I've heard was 6 months. They talked to the recruiter and it was fine.
I see, I have call with my initial recruiter this week.
You can switch before a year at Google. You need to new manager to accept you.
And need current manager to permit transferring. Which I am confident he wont support.
You can switch teams before a year. I know multiple people who have done it.
My current manager needs to allow the transfer. I am not too sure he will.

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
At most typically only 30 days is the norm or once the job posting is closed.
