From applying online via a Googler’s referral link to hearing *something*? I haven’t heard anything at all and I did apply for a job that was posted two week ago (so not getting in right away) but geez, I think the recruiters are tired of me applying.
Within 2 weeks , they have to response in 2 .
Typically 1 week
Thanks for the responses. It’s pretty much been two weeks. The posting now would’ve been about 4 weeks old but has been removed anyway. Well guess that didn’t work out.
Guess not.
Tired of you applying? How many times have you applied? Maybe that’s the problem.
Since 2010, applied probably less than 20 times for non tech roles. I interviewed in person twice, for different roles. Most recently (as in haven’t applied or interviewed for over two years), I applied via another referral of someone on the team hiring but didn’t even get a call from the recruiter (my referral said that when I sent in my resume to them at the time, they were already starting phone interviews). I know from a quora thread that you can’t interview for the same role three times at least for tech roles but I haven’t interviewed for the exact same role twice. Stumped because I have referrals and I have ~10 years of relevant experience in the industry. And someone on the inside who can vouch on how awesome an employee I am. But yet, can’t get past step one anymore. What do you think, too much? My dream is just to work at G. Sigh.
Maybe looking into as a TVC then easier to become a G ?
I definitely wouldn’t mind working there as a contract employee. Any tips on how to go about with this route? I searched on the net and it seems to say most contractors are hired via Google’s single MSP provider Pontoon Solutions (a division of Adecco). However it doesn’t seem like a candidate facing entity. Also no “temporary work” jobs showing for my location on the main site.
The TVCs job usually post either on craigslist or indeed
Perhaps your interviews didn’t go very well?
They obviously didn’t go well enough that I didn’t get an offer but they weren’t disastrous enough that I would think I can’t get another shot from making improvements. This being a career goal, I put a lot of pressure on myself to do well and that might’ve been my downfall. Interviewing well, I find, as a person who both interviews people and an interviewee, is about how good you can BS. Unfortunately my BSing ability wasn’t up to par before but lessons have been learned.
Update: maybe not dead in the water. Talking to a recruiter, eek. Hoping this pans out better. Anyone have tips for getting through the stages other than what’s on the Google careers site?
Hey, I applied for a job position online at Google and my friend referred sent me employee referral link AFTER I already applied online. Do you know if the referral still counts?
