How long does it take to get work assigned to you as a new employee? Also, would it look okay if I did some programming course online in the mean time? I’m not here for software development by the way. I don’t have any software installed on my computer yet.
At Northrop it may not happen at all until you get bored and just start doing something
It's always smart to learn more. At NG you won't have any work then you'll be bombarded...so enjoy your free time for now
Damn, even people who don’t work at Northrop know how slow it is. Hopefully, I get enough free time to teach myself coding basics while getting paid.
I had a project where they were in too. Boy, didn’t they love writing requirements, data architecture diagrams and meetings. They could just keep doing this shit as long as you tolerate.
I give new people on my team work right away as soon as they get accounts set up and new employee training done. Can take a week or two to get them setup. But I'm in software and we have plenty of backlog. Also as long as the site isn't blocked feel free to do the online course while you're waiting. Can justify it's work related.
What?
I have no work assigned to me yet.
Oh now I get it. U started a job that’s not software dev. But u don’t have any work assigned. And they haven’t installed any work related software on your computer. U r asking if it’s okay to do some online courses in meanwhile and how long till u r assigned work?
