How long to wait after verbal offer at Oracle?

I got a verbal offer for an IC3 position for Oracle Data Cloud in NYC. The TC details were already discussed before I verbally accepted the offer as well and then I received a follow up from my recruiter with the whole benefits package details and she told me to sit tight for the written offer. It’s been about 10 days now and I’m feeling a bit skeptical (does it really take this long or were they phishing me for talent) and wondering if anyone else had similar experiences with their process. How long on average does it take to get the written offer?

I joined in March 2016, 6 months later our whole team was gone. I scrambled to find a new home within Oracle, it turned out to be a a shit hole. I witnessed rounds and rounds of big layoffs every year. I was in fear and I didn't learn shit the past 3 years. No raises and new RSUs. Finally I got layoff 2nd time yesterday. BTW the severance package was cheap. Do you still want to join Oracle? https://amp.businessinsider.com/oracle-layoffs-2019-3

It takes a while, 10 days would be short for written offer. No need to worry.

I'd still keep an eye on getting a contingency plan to be safe though. Maybe I'm overly cautious, but I don't think of an offer as a done deal until I've already started on site and been there for a week or two, regardless of company. Never know if you'll like the team, or if something political suddenly happens

So my recruiter got back to me and told me that she checked the status of my offer and it’s just waiting on the last approval (board of directors).

Lol perhaps, I'm also expecting an offer from WeWork with similar TC. Now which would be the less of two evils (from what I read about both on blind, they're both no bueno)? 🤔

That does seem a bit weird, especially if you already discussed compensation details. Usually it takes a day or two, not ten days... have you followed up with the recruiter?

Emailed her and got an automated response saying she’s gonna be unavailable until next Monday, so I’ll try again then.

It is pretty normal to get a formal offer even 1 month after verbal confirmation.

perhaps wait at least 20 days? read other posts and it seems the time between verbal and written takes 1-2 months

Yeah. Many teams were dissolved as part of last week's reorg.

Read that article and it’s quite sad, but I’m curious if they would even be doing layoffs anytime soon in ODC since they just newly branded a bunch of their subsidiaries as part of that division (my position is for Moat).

ODC let go of < 10. That being said, management at the upper levels leave much to be desired.

Please don’t ruin your career by joining oracle. RSUs will lure you in but u can be let go in 3 months.

It takes 4-8 weeks to get written offer. I suggest to get in touch with your HM for details.

This is quite normal. They need to get the background check report before they will make a formal offer. Took me longer, actually.

Have you been in touch with HireRight? They reached out to me when they ran into a blocker.
