How managable is it to take 1-few months off between jobs

I’m feeling pretty burnt out and if i switch jobs I would love to take a month or up to a few months off to recoup. How do I manage this when I’ll have no health insurance? Can i just opt to not be covered? Or does that screw me come tax season?

Quit at the very beginning of the month so you have coverage for the remainder of it and then pay for Cobra coverage (will pay a premium but worth it) in the interim

COBRA for up to eighteen months. And no this law was repealed for 2019 tax season.

You can pay for (and absolutely should pay for) health insurance. Cobra or ACA plans. Health insurance doesn’t exist to protect your heath. It exists to protect your money. An unexpected hospital stay of a few days can easily run $75-100k. If you’re posting on Blind, your former TC will guarantee they will not give you any income based discounts.

You can take up to 12 weeks of unpaid FMLA leave (just need a doctor’s note). Your employer is required to continue providing health insurance at the same cost

There is no longer a tax penalty.

I take 1-2 months off every time I switch jobs, and get cobra for health insurance. Just make sure you won't need to open or apply for any loans, credit cards, bank/investment accounts, etc, because you'll be considered unemployed with an income of $0/year even if you made $300k ytd

Spend those months in Europe, where you can buy private health insurance for very cheap
