How many people at Google are working on Android?

I'm considering creating a new mobile OS but need to get an idea of how many people I'd have to hire first. How many people does it take? Thanks!

Creating a new OS is not the hard part getting distribution is.

I bet Richard could do it by himself.

Talk to microsoft about it ๐Ÿ˜Ž. Youd have to have some major advantage in your design to get distribution, let alone getting developers to write apps for it

Itโ€™s not difficult to take an MIT licensed OS like FreeBSD and make some cellphone software. The hard part is getting app developers to support.

And hardware decelopers. What edge do you have that makes it better than Android? And why would a hardware manufacturer use yours instead of their own?

There are tons of performance and security advantages. Look at BlackBerryโ€™s QNX-based BlackBerry10 OS. It ran well on hardware that could never run Android. But it had no app support.
