For Phoenix max base for senior is around 170k, staff/director and principal I think both can go up to 208k. Usually seniors get around 110-140k. VP at amex is like L7 and director is like L6 at Amazon in scope. Staff is like L6 sde. Bonus at top rating can be up to 40-50% In a good year. Average rating is like 25%. Top rating as a senior also gets you about 10k in stocks total with 3 year vesting at 1/3rd each. Staff and Prinicpal can make higher. Great 401k match of 6% $-$. Wlb is amazing, Phoenix area you can get 39-43 leaves a year as senior, I think higher levels you can get 5 more days off. TC at top of the band and performance can be 180-220k, 220-260k, 270-320k for senior, staff and principal respectively - extremely rare, if you have a high base your manager most likely would give you ok rating. Very political, slow in pace, lot of lifers and if your boss worked with them for years don't join that team, women pushed because of just gender. Good for rest and vest/coasting and tech focussed lately but not tech company - you wont feel like 1st class citizen but won't feel 2nd class either. Most product mangers r not good. Almost every tech manager is useless, some decent directors and VP - Usually the ones who joined amex in last 3-4 years or are <45 in age. All numbers for Phoenix/Florida/SLC.
Phoenix is categorized as level 3 by col and bay area and new York as level 1. I'm not sure about numbers but I think base is 15-20% more in those areas. Don't think you get anything else other than this.
I don't think anyone is making similar TC at same levels between these two companies. By the way keep in mind 220k for a single person in Phoenix is like 290-300k in Bay area/new York, you would have much shorter commute and as I said wlb is amazing. People here go to India for 6 weeks. Work from home for 3-4 weeks in that time frame. No one joins amex over amazon for TC, learning, career growth and brand. It's a very personal choice what you want. Amex beats hands down almost every other company in wlb and job security.
