How much is a clearance worth during the hiring process at the big tech companies?

If the clearance is still current of course.
For all the levels S, TS, TS/SCI, w/ poly?

Might be more relevant on the east coast. But also interested in the bay area.

No value at start ups?

  • Startups rarely start out selling to the government because the procurement schedule and sales cycle is too long

I would think at least the cost of getting one done (including delay cost). I once saw a post that said +20K to comparable non-cleared, position.

Only if the company has government contracts to hold the clearance. It's worth a lot more in DC.
Very little classified work in the Bay Area.

Very valuable at databricks and probably palantir too

  • It is worth something but not for every company. In order to use it a company needs to have business with the government (public sector). Splunk, Palantir, or big software companies tend to have some dealings with defense or intel clients
