How much is normal to spend on rent?

I just looked at Zillow. People aren't kidding when they say SF bay is expensive. Let's say I'll make 125k base and work in Menlo Park. Where do other people in this income bracket live and how much do they spend on rent? I personally won't live with roommates but is that common?

To pay less than 2k/mo: Get roommates. Move to Eastside. Significantly lower your apartment standards

And add a ton of commute time. Just getting to the bridge can take forever.

Is Careem present in Bay area?

No, I currently work in Dubai.

Suggestion: go to east bay if you work at fb, or consider roommates. EPA, East Menlo Park, Redwood City and Mountain View is considered cheaper in the peninsula. Although some people will disagree about Mountain View.

As for roommates, I own and decided to get roommates anyways to lower cost of housing. Best of luck in your search!

There are very nice and spacious apartments in MTV for $2500. Silicon valley thumb rule is 1/3 taxes 1/3 rent.

1k-1.5k with up to 3 roommates.

Zillow Group hYtJ18 Apr 24, 2018

$1.5k for a studio. Previously $2k with a roommate.

Be very cautious if someone offers you even a room for less than $1k. There's lots of scans around here.
