Also specific location, I value a short commute time and pay more for rent as a consequence. Don't see how people can be paying 800-1100 for a 1br anywhere good in bay or seattle
A lot of tech people live with roommates if they aren't married yet so polls like this are often skewed.
How do I find a 2100-2500 1bd in the Bay Area? Are you all living in East Palo Alto?
SF twin peaks, we moved out of our 1 BR and the landlord put it on market for 2400-2500. So it's out there, just need to know the neighborhoods.

You have to look hard to find the good deals with apartments. Condos also tend to be more reasonably priced.
