Recently received an offer from Google (for a non-technical role) and wondering if I should try to negotiate again. Currently on the second revised offer.
IMO you started out negotiating the wrong things entirely (salary/sign on). I made that mistake in a similar situation too. The stocks should be your focus for two reasons: one they have more flexibility there, two it sends the signal you are interested in a long term relationship.
I wouldn’t disagree, but relocating and was anxious about the increased cost of living. At this stage do you take or leave it or go back?
Base is always better than stocks
I also relocated and live near goog so I get the col question. IMO, I wouldn’t try to go back again.
Thanks appreciate the advice
What level is this? L5? What kind of role? Operations? Finance? HR?
Ops, I think either L4 or L5. Why is it low or high?
That's an L5 offer. Base is at the top end for the level. It can't go up. You can ask for more equity, which can push you to the top of the band for L5 for TC. Ask for 200K and see if you can land somewhere in between. Could be hard without competing offers.
How much better was the 2nd offer? How close was it to what you were asking for?
Offers (base/target bonus/sign on/stock) First offer: 140/15%/0/110k Second offer: 150/15%/20/110k
Might be able to negotiate the stock. What location?
