How much time should one wait in order to ask for a full time position if they are already working as a contractor?

Have the talk sooner rather than later. Heck, ask your manager early on what goals you can set to demonstrate your value to the company. If you wait too long, management could make their decision whether or not to keep you around.

I make it clear it's my intent from day one and bring it up every thirty days. Always worked for me except at Google where the chance of getting g hired was like going to the moon.

Is your pay as a contractor higher or lower than when they took you full-time

Depends on job. Google would've been a raise. All the others were same pay with benefits.

That could be tough for people who always feel like the don't measure up because of daddy issues.
Damn, I feel like Boeing could be a great next employer with the amount of great comments I see from that company
