I need to move back home to help care for a sick family member. My current role I am the only frontend developer and build all of their iOS/Android/Electron and PWAs. I know it would be a multi-month setback if I left. They are not keen on remote work mostly because they my manager doesnt like the hassle of managing remote employees. Current TC is 90k base salary with a 1k a year bonus, no stock/rsu.
I am in second round of interviews with a fully remote company offering 120k - 140k TC for the role. I am not sure if I will get the job, but if I do should I negotiate with my current employer for going remote + salary raise? I have worked there for 1 year 2 months now and heard nothing about getting a raise. On the flip side I like the work and I feel that this will be the second 1 year jump on my resume so it could hurt me if I dont stay at this next job for 2-3 years. I also feel awful about leaving them high and dry though it is also their fault for not hiring any other frontend devs.

I just want to say you def do not need to feel guilty. It’s all just business. If they decided they didn’t need you anymore, they’d cut ties with you today and never look back, businesses don’t feel guilty and we shouldn’t either IMO 🙃
