And how hard is it to actually find share accommodation? Like how long does it take in your experience to land a half decent place? The interview-like process looks harder than at least leetcode catching water in buckets on whiteboard. Take into account that I am not cool nor do I have candid insta snaps of me laughing in various poses so I offer nothing in the way of friendship value to people comprising of `nice_hair+skinny_chinos+ck_basics`. Considered not staying in sf, and getting a place of your own?
Where would you stay if not SF? My job is on SOMA. And I'm paranoid around dodgy areas so please don't say anywhere I'm likely to get mugged ie. Oakland.
That’s just ridiculous. Plenty of cleaned up ie gentrified areas in Oakland. See my answer below. You should easily find something is Soma. Personally I find Soma way too bare, stale and boring but that’s just me.
Wtf? With a base of 160k you should be able to afford a place of your own. Even in SF. There are plenty of nice studios in the 2k-2.5k range. In nice hoods too.
For under 2.5k can you get a livable studio? When I was searching it looked dodgy af, like for 2k you get basically an SRO.
Of course you can. What hoods you looking at? Soma and Nob Hill seem to have plenty of decent spots.
Don’t panic. Things will be ok. If you want a shared accommodation I would save that for when you know a colleague well. Or post on blind “looking for shared accommodation in sf”
I'd be a bit worried looking for house mates on blind, might end up with 5'6"Indian and he will rant at me about his maxilla.
Found a nice studio in Marina district for 2.2k. Ymmv
That sounds dreamy.
SF is designed to keep you as Labor. It’s designed so you focus on consumption and not wealth creation. It’s a losing proposition.
How many share mates do you have?
