I've been slacking for the past few years, being too comfortable. Didn't work on improving my skills at all. Now I'm 30 years old with a TC of 185k, having trouble getting a good job. Please advise how I should start working towards getting back up to speed. YoE: 7
I am in the same boat but applied to some small companies where i don’t want to go and started interviewing. Interview by interview i started getting better. Benefits - You get some motivation to study You get to know more interview questions You feel better, your confidence boosts That motivates you more to study Just LC may not help you as its tough to get motivated and bring your interest into algorithms back.
Already started LC, butI had a talk with a few recruiters today. Most of them want experience with scalable/good projects. How do I get that?

You can always pad your resume with buzzwords (whichever ones are relevant).
That will work well only for recruiters
Yes. Pad for recruiters, leetcode for interviews.
Just relax, why do you need to stress out? 185k is a good at 30!
Lol hope that was sarcasm
Ok, first figure out what exactly you want to do. Do you just want to skill up? Do you want more TC? Do you want more interesting work? For skilling up, do two things. First get out there. Do interviews at companies that you don't really care to get in so you can get a feel of the process and get some experience. Go to meetups. Find out what interesting things people do. Then go start learning about those things. We all have to start somewhere. We can't all start by writing spanner. If you don't want more TC there are plenty of cool teams in Bloomberg and PATH should list them. People always like to hire internally if they can. I know we do. Find a infrastructure team or find a fully customer facing team. Do NOT go to some internal tooling shit team.
185 for 7yoe is definitely lowballed by BB standard.
