How to beat ATS for company applications?

ATS - applicant tracking system.

I have applied to many companies (without referrals), with different formats (.docx, .PDF).
Note: Resume is single column, but has few invisible table like frames for keeping the text in a segregated sections and good shape.

My process: I find jobs with JD with which my skills and experience matches, then I slightly modify some keywords on resume, and then apply.

In 99% cases, I have either got rejected or no response at all. Although from my perspective, I believe I have everything they need on my resume ( as per JD), If only a recruiter reads it and gives me a call.

Is there a way to get past ATS system? Is there some hack? Is my resume format an issue?

Note:
My response to question for requirement of H1B sponsorship in future is always - YES. Cz I need it in future. Is that also the reason for rejection/ no responses ?

I am seeking roles in Data science/Analytics.

Resume-Library will allow you to upload your resume and tell you how the ATS systems will interpret it. It’s a good place to start.

At the headers section of your resume, write

MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, UOfMichigan, Waterloo, CMU etc and color the text in white, so that it's still Ctrl+F-able

You might be going at this the wrong way. Companies (rarely >5%) hire from job postings. Referrals, passive recruiting, events, account for about 90% of hiring at "desirable" companies. Additionally, most companies generate L3/L4 hires directly from university hiring or internships. It sounds like you are applying as a new grad, and so going through the careers website is not useful. You need to be recruited on campus. The international experience (4 years) is overlooked as it's not "domestic" experience.

You may need to be more systematic about your keyword tuning per job. What tool do you use to check your keyword match score against the job you're applying to?

Check this out, it will scan the whole job for you, in case you are leaving out any keywords you have: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/jobalytics-resume-keyword/fkiljfkkceaopbpfgfmjdnkiejaifkgd?hl=en&utm_source=blind&utm_medium=social

Hey! You update your resume with the missing keywords, this is a tool to help tune your resume after all 😉

It helped me identify keywords per job faster than doing it manually for sure

      That's awesome man!

By 'helped' I meant, did you start receiving more calls after tuning your resume?

Thanks, that's really useful! Well my current full time offer is from the company I interned at, during summer. Was just trying to fetch few other offers.

Try applying to one of the jobs which uses Workday as ATS. In job application if Workday is able to pre populate lot of data from your resume then it's good else ATS systems are not able to parse your resume properly. Try same with greenhouse
