Buy a target retirement date fund like VFIFX Low expense ratio and you only need to buy one fund. It adjusts risk (eg bond percentage) as you get closer to your target date .
Does it compare well to index fund expense ratio? (assuming want to hold for the long term in either case)
Its expense ratio is 0.15%, so yes. However, by getting their "admiral shares" in other funds you could get a cheaper expense ratio elsewhere at the cost of increased maintenance/complexity.
Google boglehead three fund portfolio
+1 go read bogleheads. And JL Collins/ simple path to wealth book. VTSAX. End
Simple path to wealth is a great book loved it as well
And Google mutual fund versus etf.
why do people choose VTSAX when Fidelity has zero expense ratio fund?
Mutual fund is long term game. Vanguard is very trusted name in the game. Vanguard funds also track the index better and have marginally higher returns.
@Amazon, what do you recommend buying at Vanguard?
Vfiax
Limited funds and also interested in buying Vanguard ETFs
Search for bogglehead 3 fund portfolio. I recommend fidelity as vanguard feels like 20 year old site. You can buy etf versions of vanguard total stock market, total bond market and total international stock market at fidelity.
VTSAX. I have a tech one too forgot name, easy play just stay longterm.
