How to crack the microsoft interview
I interviewed 5 days ago for SDE role at Microsoft. All interviews went well, i had a great conversation with partner in as app round. I got a response saying, they went with internal candidate and asked me to apply for other teams asap. Their response was, you were very close, but we selected internal candidate, so apply to positions of interest asap so that you will be through your next interview soon. I dont understand what needs to be done to crack the mSft interview now.. i should probably improve on my white board skills, but honestly I thougth I made it when I had a good interview with partner.. This sucks!!
You did nothing wrong, msft has different hiring process then G or F. You applied for a specific team where other places you apply to company and they match you up later. Just keep applying to more postings, you will get one.

Why are you leaving amazon for microsoft ? Comp is lower at msft no ?
Sorry to hear this. This can happen sometimes. If you have any internal contacts at Microsoft, ask them to look up this Partner's org and sister teams. Then look for any openings on the careers site under them. If you really think it went well, it may be possible to get a shortish loop if those people know each other and original interviewers can vouch for you.
