I have a team member who does not communicate/document important updates that he applies to the system. I discover things in future which is frustrating. Generally he is OK to work with but this habit of not documenting/communicating affects other members work (including me) down the line. Basically i have to fix his fix. How do you deal with such team members? I have requested him several times to document/communicate imp updates but in vain. I dont want to complain about him to our manager. What should I do?
No code review?
Sounds like you donât have any planning. Every member of your team just does some random things đ
I guess and the manager is focused more on managing higher ups.đ
Bad teammates are the worst. Sometimes you canât do much and might have to switch teams or endure it. If you have to fix another teammates issue, you can document this and keep a record. Then you can present hard facts to your manager.
Jira
Looks like the process has not been set. I had one in my team who doesn't like his code being reviewed as he believed he knew better that everyone else. He was let go.
If your other team mates share this view of this person maybe you can all approach the manager together.
I used to be this person. This is a tough situation. I would find somebody that he respects (maybe a senior engineer) and have that person talk to them about this.
High time he meets Han.
Dude, high time to move to other team. Such members are horrible to have in team. Spoils entire team. Leave team.
Honestly sounds like you're shit at communicating too. Sit his ass down and explain yourself (without sounding like a dick). If that doesn't work then he's stubborn af and theres nothing you can do
He is stubborn af. Have communicated multiple times. He complains he is overwhelmed. Everyone is. He is just lazy.
You can't teach a lazy dog new tricks. Either suck it up or leave team
