Hi Blinders, I'm in a temp job & my contract is for 6 months but they told me in 3 months or so (or maybe by the end of the year) they'll tell me if they're going to keep me or not. With talking with my managers (technically have 3: 2 in the same sector, 1 in another sector & yes I report to all 3) we talked about my position & all the great work I'm doing & was verbally promised this position as a full-timer. I've been volunteering in helping out whatever is needed within both sectors & have been a huge help because no one has my extensive background in both sectors and I have never gotten a negative review about anything. As matter of fact they always tell me I'm too valuable for them. About an hour ago I saw 2 postings for "my" positions that I've been talking to the managers about. FYI, if they already have someone for a position & want to convert that person to FTE or offer them the job internally, they don't post a JD outside. I used to think that my managers from both sectors were good people but now I feel I've been backstabbed. How do I go back to work on Monday and pretend everything is OK? If I wasn't under contract I'd start looking for a new job but idk what to do now. Can you please help me cope with this situation? Thanks
Maybe it’s for you? We have weird rules about talking to contractors about that sort of thing.
How would it for me when they broke up my position into 2 & they don't have that rule for anyone else & have converted 3 people in the past month?
Is your contract "at will"? If so you are not in breach if you leave now. I'm in a similar situation where im looking to jump ship 1 month into a 6 month contract and am considered an "at will" employee meaning either party can terminate anytime
Why don’t you just ask the managers about it? Assume positive intent, mention you saw the posting, and remind them that you would like to throw your hat into the ring. See what their response is - if they say you are not a fit, politely let them know that you will then have to look for other opportunities that support your career (and maybe even ask them for record/references for other roles). None of this has to be confrontational. Just be professional
One boss is going on a 2 wks vacation which started half day Thursday; one boss on vacation this coming week and 3rd one is "working from home" this week. I feel like they're just dodging me & I wouldn't have minded it. My issue is the lying and deceiving and the run around.

Don’t pretend. Confront. Tell them you were approached very recently & you’re considering accepting another offer (depending on your status there) and make it seem like it could be a mutual separation, so they feel there is no reason to hide the truth of the “real” situation. Of course, set up your plan B, in case.
Check with them about it. I have worked with several companies that have bylaws that they have to post job offers and have equal opportunity for position even though it was mine. They had to have appearence that there were other potential hires, so it doesn't look like good ol boys club. Confront them calmly and ask them why they are posting it, and ask if the offer is still yours. Ask if they are doing it due to bylaws. If they can't tell you a straight anwser or keep trying to dodge anwsering, walk. Instantly walk.
And I'm saying this knowing they don't post the JD outside. Act dumb, be smart. Ask this stuff knowing what you know, and see what they say. You already know truth, but make them say it, be assertive, this is your life man.
Thanks so much! I've come to see they're good at lying through their teeth. I'll ask just to see thier answer which will pour more fuel on my fire but at this point I'm over it...if they want to be shady, then I don't want to be there anyways because they'll screw me on other ways in future too
Let it burn & Adapt with a vengeance. I’ve seen loyal employees, contractors and consultants screwed over many times, the only solace I’ve seen is from the fact they originally negotiated their compensation in a way that accounted for the deceptions they espied.
How would I go about doing that? If they're screwing me how can I negotiate a salary?
Well, I said they had that negotiated beforehand in the contract started but, nothing breeds contempt more than being screwed after you were loyal and worked hard.. Even if they never find anyone else, you’ll still know they wanted to fcuk you over. Start looking.. and make sure you cover being paid should this type of thing happen again — at least they have to pay out the nose to screw you over next time.
Some time department policies dictate that they post the ad and get response before converting people. Talk to the managers and see what they have to explain.
I agree but that's not the case. Hence the reason I mentioned it in my original post
