How to find open Product Designer position?

Is it just me or you guys have the same experience? The open positions on Linkedin usually don’t appear companies’ website or the other way around. I also see that many recruiters are posting jobs on Linkedin without giving any details and asking people to send their portfolios via email.
Even some of them are writing you to set up a phone interview and don’t reply your messages afterwards.

So my question is what is the best way to apply to a position and track your progress clearly?

Having someone refer you or recruiter reach out to you have been the best methods for ne.

Sounds good but i think it doesn’t really work with someone who just moved here from another country. E.g I don’t know anyone to refer me right now. I see people ask randomly to get referral though.

Not always true. Take Disney for example. It's easy to get a 6-12m Contract but going full time is rare, that and the pay cut when you do go full time. Sure they give you benefits, but the they're not exactly paying market rate so to speak, hell they're not even competitive.

The best thing about working contract roles at a big company like Disney is when you leave, even though the projects you worked on might have been pretty lame (true story) people will parade you around like you're the fucking Messiah poised to release them from their chains of poor Product direction... When in reality, some of the most ridiculous work you've ever done was asked of you at the behest of the supposed leaders of Mouswitz.

Feel free to message me a link to your portfolio; if it looks solid I’m happy to connect you. (I’m not eligible for referral bonuses)

Sourcers spend a ton of time on LinkedIn looking for new talent. But you do need to have relevant experience unless you’re out of a design school. Portfolios and practice with design are key.
