You don’t need an expensive MBA for that transition.

You don’t need a random person referring you. I’d suggest to beef up your LinkedIn profile and reach out to recruiters that posted jobs there.

If OP wants to be a software product manager, this would be a very bad move. If OP wants to work in construction or build airplanes, PMP might be an ok move, but probably not.

I don't know any Product people who have PMPs, at least not any good ones.

Depends whether "PM" is Project Manager or Product Manager. PMP is good for the former

From my experience, PMP has be gateway to Amazon and Microsoft’s Program Management role. Whether their competency is up to standard is separate issue because same argument can be used for any cert or degree programs.

      He means product manager.

No dev wants to go be a project manager. PMP is easier to get than a bartender’s license. (Yes i have one)

Very possible. MBA isn’t needed. Plenty of free ways to learn. Try to take on projects at work that allow you to build up some related experience.

No need for an MBA. Internal transfer is probably your best bet.
