I love the way product owners work to define a roadmap and work their way to make the team build a new feature/product. Im just a new hire software engineer at Salesforce and I want to know how to work towards becoming a Product Owner. I do not intend to work for 7-10years more as a software developer to just move to the product owner position. Is there some MBA or Product Management course which can help me in the process?
Product school, you tube videos can help learn basics. Start with book like "cracking the PM interview" to get more detail understanding into what PM does across the industry. Then work closely with a PM in your org and find a mentor outside your org.let your manager know in your 1:1 (after some time) and keep an eye for a PM role within the org or company. Internal moves are recommended in general as they are easier. Be ready to take a pay cut as you move from SDE to PM, but sounds like the PM is more fun for you and so, u would do well as a good PM than an average SDE. Good luck!
Is this do able in MS bay area?( i.e have engineers moved to PM)
Bay area does not have as many PMs, however it is possible of there are recs open
Is this doable at Opentable?
