I’ve been at Microsoft for more than 5 years now and planning to leave soon but wouldn’t like to leave money on the table. I learnt that I could get a good severance package if I am laid off. How to convince my manager/hr about this?
Offer your manager 50% of your severance package. He will gladly accept & fire you immediately. Don’t forget to give me the other 50% for this great idea😁
I don’t think he will accept. Thanks for the idea, though
Slap your skip
Get into legal trouble and don't get a penny. :)
Be impolite, come late to work and leave early, do something for fun during work hours, use the company laptop to watch NSFW stuff, decline every meeting invitation you get, etc.
Simply don't come to work
What a great question! I mean it!
If there are mass layoffs on the horizon, you can often volunteer for them. For a performance based layoff, basically any way to make it happen is going to be burning bridges and costing you the chance for a good reference from this manager
I don’t care about a good reference from him and I don’t have a very good relationship with him anyways
My suggestion: do a bare minimum but focus on the job search. If you are lucky, you get laid off. If you aren't you at least have more time than most employed people go focus on the job search
