It always triggers me when some friend or family member asks me to repair their phone screen because I work in CS. How do you handle it?
I tell them no. Also, having no friends helps a lot
Take the order. Get it repaired from mall guys. Charge double to your friends and family. It’s a good side business.
Just break it
Inspect the problem, Google for a handyman and book an order while they are watching. Ask $5 extra for the extra service you provided.
You fix it. Simple.
Tell them you dont know how cause it's not related to your job. Literally 2 seconds
I used to do that a lot until people stopped asking
I love fixing so I do it. Learn new thing each time.

Google CFO confirms 'large-scale' layoffs (Apr 17)
Tell them this is like requesting for their landlord to do their plumbing and electrical work. While some landlords may also be handymen, they don't necessarily know how to fix buildings just because they own and manage them all day. If I don't know how to fix it, I won't pretend to. And I definitely wouldn't take credit for the work of a third party repair shop that I don't trust. I would prefer to be honest, and hope I taught someone something useful in the process.
