Feels like more and more companies are bringing dogs into the office. I know a few people who are mild to severe allergic who are struggling a lot. One of my friend got an offer from Lyft, but he couldn't accept it because he can't breath around dogs. Lyft told him to take meds and that there is nothing they can do even though he can die...even after saying meds do not help much...He also got something similiar from Pinterest It does not feel right that a whole group of people cannot work at a place due to a health issue out of their control. Their job opportunities are limited due to a benefit. Why it unreasonable to just keep the dogs at home? Is this another example of people doing things without thinking about the harm it can cause?
Litigation.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable; isn’t it less common to be a dog-friendly work environment?Companies that offer that benefit probably have some stats on percentages of people with dog-specific allergies and have run some numbers on that being an attractor versus a detractor. Sucks for your friend, but it seems like they’ll have to factor that into where they choose to apply and pursue.
I don't think anyone will care until: a) there's a major incident and they get sued, b) they feel this is discrimination due to a disability and they get sued, or c) they realize they're losing out on talent. No matter how the alphabet goes, you're looking at a high probability of lawsuit.
365 pills of generic non drowsy allergy meds Are $10 at costco
Those pills still have side effects, and why should anyone be forced to take pills just to go to work?
Also if it doesn't really help much...lol
Wouldn't work in an office that allows dogs; never understood that noise.
Eat the dog
Bring something that they’re allergic to into the office and tell them to deal.
