I'm visiting Europe soon and it will be my first vacation in years. I have been using vacation days mostly for job searching and I've waited a long time to get this chance to take a trip to Europe between jobs. According to the weather report, there will be showers and/or thunderstorms in each of the cities I visit on the days I'm visiting. I'm really bummed out because that will hamper sightseeing. I am skeptical about how much fun it will be to tour a tulip garden and take a boat tour while it's raining/storming. Does anyone have tips for how to make the most out of a vacation/sightseeing opportunities under such conditions?
Given your descriptions of what you plan on doing I’m guessing you’re visiting Amsterdam/Keukenhof at least for part of your trip. Amsterdam has plenty of stores that you can run in/out of when it’s raining, and as long as you’re not bringing your luggage with you, it should be fine. If you’re planning on doing a boat tour there and haven’t reserved one yet, there’s a company called “Dam Boat Guys” that were pretty good. Keukenhof would be a bit harder on a rainy day, but there’s still a decent number of indoor greenhouses where you could see flowers too. I’d try to aim for a non-rainy day though, because then you could rent a bike and ride by all the fields. Either way, enjoy the moment out there and make sure you relax some! Europe is awesome but easy to get in a mindset of “I have to see everything” which is fun, but then you get back and need a vacation from your vacation.
Yup, you guessed correctly. Thanks for the Dam Boat Guys recommendation and the reminder to stay present. That's good advice 🙂
I did a 3wk trip to Europe last year, it rained for 6-7 days, was totally bummed Europe is more about walking around, exploring small towns. I would rebook to a different date even if that means spending $$$ on rebooking fee
Those are the only days I can go before I start the new job. I'm hesitant to reschedule because then I will have to use my vacation days.
You can always encash ur vacation. Would you rather spend time and money and not enjoy OR wait for next vacation opportunity, your choice. I would not.

Are you going alone? I recently went to Japan and it mostly rained, but the craziness of it all and running around to indoor places and just enjoying it made it one of my most memorable vacations.
That's a great attitude. I'll try to enjoy each moment for what it is since the rain is part of the experience.
