The Seattle freeze is real and it’s hard to meet people up here. There are lots of smart, nice, chill people up here but it’s hard to meet them. What do people who work at these younger hip companies do? What’s the best way to network with these folk? There aren’t many meetups up here. I’m in the process of interviewing at these shops and if I land one I’d love to learn how to assimilate to their weekend rituals and such.
I haven't found it difficult to meet people. Join a club.
We need to advertise on this website.
I’m super happy with my WLB working 8:30-4 daily with maybe an hour at home if I need to get something done (just saying this to counteract everyone saying amazonians are slaves). I powerlift 5x/week in the morning and have met some great people at my gym. I also used Bumble BFF when I first moved to Seattle and met one of my best friends now through that, but I felt a bit weird using that. Now that I have more of an established friend group, it’s easy to find stuff to do but I agree it was hard at first. Also check out the stranger’s site for events to do around Seattle that are bound to have young people there: https://www.thestranger.com/events. Also check out meetup.com for stuff that interests you
10-4 in the office, with one WFH day a week - cannot be happier!
Have you visited any of the banana stands?
Yo what’s up - hate the freeze. I met most of my “friends” through kids day care / activities. I’m also into cars so there’s actually a few drivers clubs etc and easy to meet people that way. It takes a lot of time - most people I know here are not from here either. Get good and comfortable at doing stuff solo!
Those folks haven't laughed in a while. Especially, Amazonians.
Yeah I never see Amazon people out having drinks or exercising. They look like slaves
With Cisco wlb everyone will look like a slave to you.
