YOE 2 TC: 150k Passed an on-site with Apple (SWE core OS). They told to tell come up with concrete numbers for my minimum salary requirements, stating both base and RSU package. Reading Blind posts from the past I got an impression that asking for too much can lead to an immediate rejection. How would you proceed?
Level at Apple and your current TC matter. If you make peanuts now and have no competing offer, even if you are an ML whiz, Apple has no incentive to offer you a lot more.
Tell them politely that you would prefer to be presented with an offer first and then we can negotiate. Remember, the one who speaks first usually loses in the negotiations unless you currently have a high TC.
This. Are you really desperate enough to bid against yourself? That's basically what they are asking for.
What is asking too much? Please don't sell yourself short.
I am also in the same boat. I have heard that ML folks get a lot more than SWE at Apple. How much should I expect with 4 YOE?
