How to prepare for interviews?

I work at a Series B startup and have 5 years of experience and masters in CS from a semi reputable university on the East Coast. I recently interviewed for LinkedIn, Facebook and Palantir for front end engineer role. I have been interviewing at other mature startups too. But, with these 3 companies, I couldn’t even crack the phone screens. My phone screens were supposedly to test my Front End skills, but very subjective. Not leetcode or standard front end questions. Was very disappointed with the process as the questions seemed to set me up for failure. Some obscure questions that you wouldn’t have heard. And even after I worked my through them mostly, was rejected. How do I prepare if I want to interview for other companies like Lyft or Uber or Dropbox or Google ? This is part rant and part asking for advice ? Or is it pretty hit or miss always that I should just move on ? TLDR: I don’t have any problems getting calls from any of tier 1 companies as recruiters regularly reach out to me and I’m frustrated I’m not able to crack the interviews how much ever I prepare for a Front end engineer.

You understand the community discussion forums are there to help the community and not to answer one specific person question. If that was the idea then all the replies will be directly sent to your inbox. I am interested in knowing this too but now I cant.

I understand that. My intention was not to tell what questions I was asked. But was looking for some advice. But since people were interested in knowing the questions assuming they were interviewing for similar positions I PM’ed them without outing myself. If I wanted to post the questions I was asked, I’d have made a post with the same context.

As someone who both interviews candidates at a series c company and interviews at other companies a fair amount, I suggest Glassdoor as well as reading programming interviewing exposed.
