How useful is forte feedback?

How useful is forte feedback in Amazon. The OLR happens way before forte feedback is collected and ratings are already finalized. I do not see forte feedback is being considered for project allotment as well to align with super powers.

It's the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

It's like "everyone wrote +ve about me, why did I get such low comp bump". Is it due to stock price? Due to lower rating?

I don't know who came up with this shit.

The purpose of Forte has nothing to do with compensation

Truly, that's why the original question. What is the purpose of Forte if it does not help you get projects aligning to your super power as well. It is just one of conversation between your manager and just does out just after forte discussion.

The only thing it helps you is to know what is your peer feedback against you and that's it.

Its useful if your strengths and/or growth areas are consistent across feedback providers. It can facilitate the convo around you during OLR discussions

But OLR discussions happens way before forte feedback is collected. So how will it help during OLR discussions.

OLR discussions among managers can happen earlier, especially around forward-looking promos and ensuring you have the right path ahead of you for next year. I, for example, am scheduled to start having those in late january all the way through feb

Lamefuck forte. It makes me laugh at all the backstabbing. I stopped writing feedback because I don't see any value in it. They should make it a connection question.

Employees are people, not robots/archetypes. We moan diversity when it comes to PR, but conveniently strangle the intellectual part of it.

"If you don't talk like me, think like me, pretend-slave like me, I will forte-fuck you up."

Wonder if there are any manager in Blind who can comment on Forte process. Do they use it for assessing and providing opportunities to his reports?

Forte is some completely fucked up shit at Amazon that is currently being used by managers at their own discretion to screw employees. Fuck Forte!!

It’s a good way to get quotes for the review. That way the manager can write something like, you were strong in deliver results, and here’s what your peers said ...
But it’s rare to see anything that will change what your manager plans to rate you.

Yes exactly, but apart from words does it translate into anything in terms of opportunities matching to your super powers, better compensation?
With my two years experience with forte I do not see anything changed because of forte review. It is just an additional meeting with manager where manager will present the forte feedback and that's it and it is not up for much discussion as well.

@evuv26 A forte review rarely results in a positive action. It can very easily result in a negative action (such as providing justification for your PIP). It is unlikely that you have a super power (real hard superpower, not one of those fluffy ones) that has gone unnoticed. Plus, although the review process pretends like there are hundreds of jobs and you can be matched to one based on your forte feedback, in reality your immediate manager or senior manager will not have very many openings to place you, and they will be loathe to place you proactively outside their org for your “job satisfaction”. In short, Forte feed back has been put in place in response to the NYT article to make you feel better superficially. Forte usually has neutral or negative consequences, and rarely any positive consequences.
