How's Airbnb culture/morale as it pertains to being a parent?

For those of you who work at Airbnb and have young kids. How do you feel about wlb as it pertains to spending time with kids, being able to attend school functions, etc.? Is working from home on occasion frowned upon?

WLB is pretty good, but can depend on the team. Wednesdays are pretty much wfh days for everyone, but you can wfh any day if it's not inconvenient for the team and you don't over do it, like in most places.

Get paid 700 at the best-rated company and WFH on Wednesdays. What a life.

700? What

Had a new parent on my team. They took six months of maternal leave and after coming back usually WFH 1-2 times per week. They are non Eng though. The team works hard and is high performing but they still manage. People are pretty tolerant

Why is Wednesday the WFH day and not Friday?

Airbnb WGaQ65 Jun 13, 2019

Originally it was no-meeting Wednesdays, so people took the opportunity to work from home. More recently the food team started doing no-meat Wednesday as well for the meals, so even more people took that as an excuse to stay home.

WLB seems good for most people except a few engineering teams. WFH Wednesdays are widely observed in my experience too.

I joined recently and I have two kids under 3. Most people get to work 10ish and leave at 5ish. On wednesdays, 75% of the company WFH. People are very nice and understanding. I doubt you'd be pushed to neglect your family.

Since you recently joined, what's the cross functional interviews about?
