Just cleared the apple tech screen rounds, and they ask me to go CA for interview instead of seattle, how this happens? Is this normal? HR didnt reply yet, anyone know about this?
so you mean the position would still be in seattle but i need to travel to CA for interview?
Why don’t you just ask the recruiter? I don’t think they will ding you for asking a perfectly reasonable question.
That is normal. It would also be likely that new hires spends a few weeks in CA for training. I know some engineers who got hired for the Austin office that had to stay in CA for about 6 weeks
got it thanks let me ask them
If a new site is not populated enough, the org may ask you to come to their larger site to interview. Once the Seattle site is populated enough, interviews will most likely take place locally. This is perfectly normal!
I’ve seen this a couple times with interviews in my org. Majority of team is in Cupertino so the interviews are there but position is for Seattle.

Yup. I know it doesn’t make much sense, but some companies do this. It happens when the company HQ is in CA usually. I’ve even been flown from Seattle to SanFrancisco to interview over video with someone in Seattle (not the whole interview though).
